Desi In Tampa

Thursday, September 29, 2005

After a four year stint in Northern VA/Washington DC, I recently moved down here to Tampa, FL. Despite hearing from plenty of friends that Tampa was a fairly large city, the desi population here is proportionately a good number, I must admit I was a more than a little surprised at the lack of information available on the Internet - about desi restaurants, desi movie schedules, desi grocery stores, places of worship, events like festival celebrations and melas, nightclubs desis prefer etc. - the usual stuff a desi would look for when they move to a new city. And that even if the information was available, it was pretty hopelessly scattered amongst poorly constructed websites. I do admit this information might be common knowledge to someone who's been living here for a while or who has friends in the area, but for someone like me who knows absolutely no one, the task has been kind of daunting.

So I thought, what the heck, why don't I do the honours and put together a website/blog with all the information all in one place. So, here goes.
